Dear Horsemen,

The Maryland Jockey Club welcomes you to Maryland racing. It is our desire to ensure that your racing experiences in Maryland are pleasant and memorable ones.

NEW Dirt and Turf Shoe Rule - Starting September 16, 2009

A horse may not be permitted to start if it has shoes on the 
front hooves that have toe grabs tha are greater than  four (4) millimeters in height or contain bends, jar calks,or    
any other traction device.
(Maryland Racing Commission) 

ATTENTION HORSEMEN: Horses shipping in all MJC facilities must have a Health Certificate with the information below with the horse, before the horse will be allowed to come through the stable gate.   You must have a health certificate dated within 72 hours of arrival with a rectal temperature and a certificate of veterinary inspection containing the following statement and signed by the attending veterinarian.   HORSES REPRESENTED ON THIS CERTIFICATE OF VETERINARY INSPECTION MUST:   A.  Have not originated from a barn with a confirmed or suspect case of       herpes virus, nor have shown signs suggestive of this disease, nor have       been febrile within the previous 3 weeks.   B.  Have not originated from nor been stabled on a premise under quarantine       or restriction due to EHV-1 or from a premise which has had herpes virus       diagnosed during the previous 30 day period.   C.  Have been vaccinated against EHV-1 no less than 7 days and no greater      than 90 days.
