BALTIMORE, MD. 5-1-08---Rosie Napravnik will ride Dicey D J in Saturday’s feature, the Hookedonthefeelin Stakes, the ninth of eleven races on Kentucky Derby day at Pimlico. The day starts at 12:45 p.m. and includes a Beer and Wine Fest on homestretch apron.
Maryland-bred fillies will race five furlongs on the turf in the Hookedonthefeelin. Dicey D J (8-5) has run on the grass in New York and Florida for trainer Linda Rice, with a maiden win and a credible 5th in the Schylerville at Saratoga last year. She wintered at Palm Meadows training center and finished a fast closing second in her most recent start at Gulfstream.
“She ran well but was unlucky in her last race. She was wide and got away slowly,” Rice said. “I ran her against the boys just to get a race on the turf because the one for the fillies didn’t go. She just ran and we shipped straight to Pimlico to save putting on the miles. We bought her in Maryland last September at the Timonium sales.”
Kosmo’s Buddy (9-2) has hit the board in every stakes she’s entered and all five were contested at Laurel. In February she grudgingly gave way to finish second in the Marshua Stakes and in March dueled and finished third in the Wide Country. Tim Salzman trains the Outflanker filly. Eric Camacho is her regular rider.
Expect No Love (6-1) started her career on the grass but didn’t start winning until late March on the main track at Laurel, where she broke maiden. She repeated on the opening weekend at Pimlico against optional claimers in a race that was taken off the turf. Horacio Karamanos has first call for trainer Ferris Allen.
Philadelphia Park shipper Outside Lane (6-1) has won four of nine starts for trainer John Servis. She hasn’t had much success against Maryland-breds, but her last two efforts were promising, with a runner-up finish at Aqueduct and a win over allowance runners at Charles Town. Roberto Alvarado rides Outside Lane for the first time.
Seeking Options (8-1), twice a winner over claimers by wide margins, stopped badly when pushed against allowance runners last out. Ben Feliciano Jr. trains the filly and Carlos Marquez will ride.
The others, ranked from 10-1 to 20-1, are shooting to move up in company.
