BALTIMORE, 05-23-09---Two Legends Farm, Richard Golden & David Wade’s Amie’s Legend was off slowly and remained unhurried early, but her last to first move was good enough to capture the closing day feature at Pimlico Race Course, the $50,000 Shine Again Stakes.

Sent to post as the 3-5 favorite against five other Maryland-bred fillies and mares, Amie’s Legend carried Luis Garcia to her second consecutive victory for trainer Graham Motion. The daughter of Not For Love rallied up the rail to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Five Diamonds. Eye finished third.

Amie’s Legend paid $3.20. The four-year-old filly is now three for six lifetime, with five in the money finishes, for earnings of $83,520.

“I knew I got the best horse in the race, but everything changed when I broke out of the gate. I broke in the air and almost lost my irons,” said Garcia. “But she relaxed well so I just took back and waited to go. The rail opened and we went for it.”

This was also the third victory in the four the runnings of the Shine Again Stakes for Garcia, who won aboard Dynamic Deputy in 2006 and Come Fly Away in 2008.

Matthew Rispoli became the second apprentice rider during the spring meet to win his first career race at Pimlico when he rode Casi Cielo ($23.80) to victory in the Saturday opener. Jennifer Jennings rode her first career winner on May 1.

The 18-year-old rider, who was born in New Jersey and who has been exercising horses for two years, kept Casi Cielo in fourth place throughout much of the 1-1/16th mile test for claiming maidens before sending him after the pacesetter and 1-2 favorite, Jot’s Jib. In deep stretch the favorite began to tire and Casi Cielo charged by to win going away. It was just his second lifetime mount.

Before being bombarded with soapy water by his fellow riders to celebrate his first win, Rispoli revealed his plans to ride this summer at Colonial Downs.
