BALTIMORE, 06-07-08---Trainer Steve Klesaris entered two runners in the $50,000 Whimsical Stakes and saw his starters finish one-two, as Oelectra and Rosie Napravnik beat even-money favorite Circuit Breaker and seven other fillies and mares in Pimlico’s closing day feature.

A crowd of 11,385 braved hot and humid weather to enjoy twelve live races and to witness the simulcast of Big Brown’s attempt to win the final leg of the Triple Crown.

Oelectra raced to the lead in the six furlong test on the main track and was kept to business the rest of the way, holding safe her stable mate from the far turn to the finish line. Oelectra won by a neck over Circuit Breaker in 1:10.27. Acinonyx finished a distant third.

“I thought there might be a little more pace coming from the five (Now It Begins) but she didn’t really break well so we decided to go with it,” said Napravnik. “My instructions from Steve were if to sit off of it but if we ended up on the lead, that would be fine. She is push-button to ride and she did a good job.”

The winner, a chestnut daughter of Gulch who was capturing her fourth lifetime win, paid $10. This was her first stakes victory.
