BALTIMORE – The balance of Thursday’s 10-race program at Laurel Park was cancelled due to prolonged lightning in the area.

Thunder and lightning were first reported approaching post time for Friday’s fourth race. Following a 30-minute delay, during which the main track was sealed and the rain began, steady lightning persisted and the decision was made to cancel out of safety concerns for Laurel’s horses, horsemen, fans and employees.

BALTIMORE – Due to poor air quality in the Mid-Atlantic region caused by smoke from Canadian wildfires, the Maryland Jockey Club has canceled Friday’s live program at Laurel Park.

The entire 10-race program has been moved, as is, to Thursday, July 6 with a post time of 12:25 p.m.

Laurel will remain open for simulcasting.

Live racing will resume Saturday to kick off the month of July featuring 11 stakes worth $1.075 million in purses.
