What Racing Fans are saying

June 7, 2015

I wanted to let you know that my mom, my aunt and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on Belmont Stakes Saturday.   The food and service was fabulous!  It started from the parking lot.

We pulled up to the valet booth and the parking attendant noticed my mom’s walker and told us he would pull up to the curb and park our car by the path that leads to the side glass door, so my mom could use the elevator, since we had reservations at Sunny Jim’s.  Much appreciated.

After settling in our seats we had a wonderful view of all the new flat screens.  We also noticed the new paint.  Shortly thereafter the buffet opened and it was DELICIOUS!!!  From the smoked salmon display, hinting of brunch, to the crab dip, which did not smell fishy as some do, to the crab cakes and on and on.  As if that wasn’t enough, there was a second later round of hot dogs, hot wings, etc.  Unexpected!  Throughout the buffet the attendants cleared our plates and gave us updates on what was coming.

The three of us wanted to be together for my first Triple Crown experience and we wanted to do it at our beloved Laurel Park.  Thanks to your staff and the Chef we made the perfect choice.

It has been disheartening for us to watch our beloved Laurel Park fall into the state of disrepair and bad food that it had become.  Frankly, we had stopped coming as much and really only showed up on big days for the past few years.  Preferring to watch in the comfort of our homes on HRTV and using Twinspires.  We always take Travers week and go up to Saratoga in the summer.  It usually feels like going from the Flintstones to the Jetsons  as far as the tracks are concerned.  All of the above improvements are giving us hope that we can put that feeling behind us.

Thank you to Mr. Ritvo as well for beginning to bring this track back to life.  Maryland horseracing fans have longed for this and I for one am willing to pay more for the facilities we deserve.

Best and Thanks Again,

P.S.  I hope the Rest Rooms are next.
