Recipients to be Honored at Legendary Alibi Breakfast May 14 at Pimlico

BALTIMORE – The Maryland Jockey Club announced today it is accepting entries for the David F. Woods Memorial Award, presented annually to the writer of the best Preakness story from the previous year, and the Jerry Frutkoff Photography Award, presented to the photographer of the best Preakness picture from the previous year.

Stronach 5 Returns Friday with Four Tracks & $100,000 Guaranteed Pool

LAUREL, MD – The Stronach 5, featuring a $100,000 guaranteed pool and industry-low 12-percent takeout, returns Friday with races from Laurel Park, Santa Anita Park, Golden Gate Fields and Gulfstream Park.

Friday’s sequence begins at 3:49 p.m. with Laurel’s eighth race, a $42,000 allowance contest at seven furlongs led by 4-year-olds Benintendi and Mungojerrie.

LAUREL, MD – There were nine winning tickets in Friday’s Stronach 5, each returning $19,179.80.

Friday’s sequence kicked off in the eighth-race finale at Laurel Park, won by 3-5 favorite Unbridled Outlaw ($3.40). After Kitten by the Sea ($9) captured Gulfstream Park’s seventh race, the final three legs produced upsets - Independent Indy ($25.20) in Race 3 at Golden Gate Fields, Teachers Big Dream ($22.60) in Race 4 at Santa Anita and I’ll Do It My Way ($35.60) in Race 10 at Gulfstream.
