Stronach 5 Returns $6,345

BALTIMORE – There were 14 winning tickets on Friday’s Stronach 5 with each returning $6,345.80.

The Stronach 5 featured races from Laurel Park and Gulfstream Park with a low 12-percent takeout.

The weekly wager kicked off with Laurel’s seventh race, a $40,000 maiden waiver event for Maryland bred and sired horses. Shamrock Farm’s Money’s Worth, ridden by Forest Boyce, held off Charming Way to return $12. Gulfstream’s seventh race served as the second leg and Clap Embroidery’s Frankie’s Girl opened up through the stretch to win and return $23.

Laurel’s eighth race served as the third leg of the Stronach 5 and favored Mit Mazel ($6) held off her opponents for leading trainer Claudio Gonzalez. The sequence continued at Laurel with Race 9 and Torch Carrier making it look easy in her third start under Mychel Sanchez at odds of 7-2.

The Stronach 5 concluded with Gulfstream’s ninth race, a 5 ½ furlong event over the Tapeta won by the 5-2 shot Smooth Pebble.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.
