Bold Affair Repeats In Primonetta Stakes

Bold Affair wins her ninth stakes victoryBALTIMORE, 04-20-13---Charles Reed & Mike Zanella’s Bold Affair rallied from last to repeat as the winner of the $95,000 Primonetta Stakes at Pimlico Race Course.

Under a patient ride by Abel Castellano for trainer Howard Wolfendale, Bold Affair was notching her ninth stakes victory and her fifth win at Pimlico, beating a gutsy Irish Exchange by a half-length. The daughter of Two Punch is a perfect three-for-three in 2013 with earlier victories in the What A Summer and Conniver Stakes at Laurel Park.

“She just knows where the wire is,” said Castellano. “Today, she gave me an extra gear and wanted it so badly. The horse on the inside dug in and my filly was trying really hard. She gave me everything she’s got.”

Bold Affair paid $3 as the prohibitive 1-2 betting choice. She completed the six furlong distance in 1:12.19.

The 5-year-old mare will look next for a repeat score in the $100,000 Skipat Stakes on Preakness eve.
