Friday's Stronach 5 Returns $12,804

Baltimore, MD – The Stronach 5 continued rewarding bettors with a strong return in investment when Friday’s multi-race, multi-track wager returned $12,804.50.

Friday’s Stronach 5 featured three races from Laurel Park, two from Gulfstream Park, a $100,000 guaranteed pool and an industry-low 12-percent takeout.

The Stronach 5 began with Laurel’s seventh race and 12 fillies and mares going 5 ½ furlongs on the turf. The winner was John Gardiner’s and Kingdom Bloodstock Inc.’s More or Less, who returned $10.40.

Laurel’s eighth race, a $55,000 allowance event at a mile featuring stakes winners Alwaysmining and Cordmaker, was won by Harper’s First Ride ($7). The winner and second-place finisher Tybalt are both trained by Claudio Gonzalez.

Gulfsream’s 10th race, a maiden special weight event for 3-year-olds and up at a mile on the turf, served as the fourth leg of the Stronach 5 and it was won by Zayat Stables LLC’s Salow ($12), a son of Distorted Humor making his debut for trainer Wesley Ward and jockey Eduardo Nunez. The sequence ended with Cannon’s Roar ($12.20) winning Laurel’s ninth race.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.
