Stronach 5 Returns $618 With Three Winners Under $7

BALTIMORE – The Stronach 5 continues to offer a good return on investment. Even with three of Friday’s winners returning $6.40 or less, there were 91 winning tickets with each being worth $618.90.

The Stronach 5 featured races from Pimlico Race Course, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields as well as an industry-low 12-percent takeout.

The Stronach 5 started with a pair of races at Pimlico that produced popular winners First-time starter Edie Meeny Miny Mo ($3.80) won Pimlico’s eighth race and American Fleet ($3) was placed first through a disqualification to win his third consecutive race for trainer Jamie Ness in Pimlico’s ninth race.

Gulfstream’s eighth race, the third leg of the sequence, went to the 5-year-old, Mike Maker-trained gelding Imperial Mission ($10). The action headed west for legs four and five of the Stronach 5. Another Eddie ($6.40) followed up her maiden victory with a win against California-bred or sired 3-year-old fillies in Santa Anita’s third race of the afternoon. The Stronach 5 concluded with 6-5 favorite J C Express ($4.60) winning Golden Gate’s third race.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.
