March 20, 2013 (Washington, D.C.)-The Maryland Jockey Club (MJC) today announced its plans to launch a dynamic Farm to Table concept at the Preakness Stakes, sourcing menu items for the Corporate Village and Turfside Terrace from America’s farms. The 2013 menus have been created by celebrity chef and restaurateur, Mike Isabella.

BALTIMORE, 03-15-13---The Maryland Jockey Club today announced Chevelle, Florida-Georgia Line and Kristen and the Noise will perform on the Jägermeister stage on Saturday, May 18 at Pimlico Race Course, prior to the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes (G1).

Maryland Jockey Club Auditioning Frank Carulli Replacements Next Week

LAUREL, MD. 03-13-12---Frank Carulli, the Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park handicapper and racing analyst since January 2002, will be leaving the company at the conclusion of the Pimlico spring meet, which ends June 8. Carulli will be relocating to Las Vegas.

Next week (March 20-23) at Laurel Park, the Maryland Jockey Club will have four guest handicappers vie for Carulli’s on-air role as the Pimlico and Laurel television host.

The headline event of the 10-week meeting is the 138th running of the $1 million Preakness® Stakes (G1), the middle jewel of horse racing’s famed Triple Crown, on May 18.

Statement From The Maryland Jockey Club On The "Preliminary" Capital Improvement Plan For Pimlico and Laurel

LAUREL, MARYLAND (February 1, 2013)– The Maryland Jockey Club (MJC) President and Chief Operating Officer, Thomas Chuckas, Jr., released the following statement on MJC’s preliminary capital improvement plan for Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park.  The preliminary plan was submitted to the Maryland Racing Commission and the Maryland Department of Budget & Management today pursuant to legislation passed during the 2012 special session.   Under the 2007 Video Lottery Gaming Legislation, portions of the video lottery proceeds are dedicated to the Racetrack Facility Redevelopment Account for racetrack development and improvement. 

Wagering Up 7.5% In Maryland For 2012 Season

LAUREL, MD. 01-05-13---The Maryland Jockey Club concluded its 2012 racing season earlier this week, posting average wagering figures which were 7.5% higher than 2011. The average daily handle went from $2.27 million to $2.44 million. The year featured 145 live racing dates and 206 simulcast days.

Castellano And Ness Capture Year-Round Titles

LAUREL, MD. 12-31-12---Abel Castellano and Jamie Ness wrapped up year-end titles for the calendar year in the jockey and trainer divisions respectively at the major Maryland tracks after today’s final card of the season at Laurel Park.

The duo ranked atop the standings during the Pimlico Race Course spring and Laurel Park fall meetings.

LAUREL, MD. 12-18-12---Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course will conduct 146 days of racing in 2013, the same number that was scheduled the last three years after the Maryland Racing Commission approved an agreement by the Maryland Jockey Club (MJC) and Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA) at its monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon at Laurel Park.
