BALTIMORE, 02-21-12---The Maryland Jockey Club today unveiled a new logo for Pimlico Race Course. Pimlico, which opened on October 25, 1870, is the second oldest racetrack in the United States and is home to the $1 million Preakness Stakes®, the middle jewel of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown.

With this designation, the Embassy of Denmark and Ambassador Peter Taksoe-Jensen will serve as Honorary Hosts welcoming distinguished guests and dignitaries to historic Pimlico Race Course for the annual running of the Preakness Stakes.

Both artists will play extended sets on the main stage in the public Infield on Saturday, May 19 at Pimlico Race Course when the Maryland Jockey Club, North America's oldest sporting organization, hosts the 137th renewal of the Preakness® Stakes.

LAUREL, MD. 12-17-11---The Maryland Jockey Club (MJC) and Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA) reached an agreement in principal Saturday to apply and race 146 days at Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course in 2012.

“I am glad we got this resolved,” said Richard Hoffberger, MTHA president. “This means running the same amount of live days as this year which was important to the horsemen to maintain a year-round program.”

Pimlico Announces Final Spring Meet Handle Figures

BALTIMORE, 05-26-11---The Maryland Jockey Club concluded its spring meeting at Pimlico Race Course last weekend, posting average wagering figures which were 22% lower than the 2010 spring meet. The average daily handle went from $6.26 million to $4.87 million. The stand featured 29 live racing dates, nine more than a year ago, and 21 simulcast days.
